Anticipation

Fall is on the horizon.

See the edges of the Japanese maple leaf? Soon it will be yellow ... then burgundy ... then gone.

I love this pivot point between the seasons. Not quite summer and not yet autumn, we're in a limbo land of possibility.

Will there be an Indian summer to dry our lawns? Or will unseasonal Northers hurry us out to cover late season blooms? Down here we're hoping for a month of 70-degree highs and cool morning walks. It's not expected, you understand. Just hoped for.

Eagerly we anticipate the changing seasons. Impatiently we wonder.

But there's no way around it.

We simply have to wait.

I love this time of the year!
I smiled reading your words, because I was just thinking about the change of seasons this afternoon. I went for a ride with my son and found myself enjoying the changes taking place-the crisp wind, the warmth of my jacket, and some lawns trying out fall colors while my bright dahlias still cling to summer.

Love this time of year. Makes me wish I was back in Arkansas at time. Hope you get the Fall you are wishing for. Debbie

Have you sold your house yet? I can imagine it will be even harder to say goodbye once you move.

This picture reminded me of a quote from Camus I recently came across: "Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."
